I-270 Corridor Improvement Open House

The Colorado Department of Transportation invites the Commerce City community to learn more and provide feedback about plans to address safety concerns, transit, and congestion along the Interstate 270 corridor. Proposed improvements include adding one additional travel lane in each direction as either a general-purpose lane or Express Lane. Interchanges and entrance/exit ramps will be improved, outdated bridges rebuilt, and shoulders widened where needed. Bicycle and pedestrian facilities will also be improved throughout the project area, including adding a new bicycle and pedestrian overpass across I-270.

Open house meetings will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center, 6060 Parkway Drive. Open houses will feature bilingual display boards showcasing the proposed improvements. Food, refreshments, and childcare will be provided along with Spanish and American Sign Language interpretation.

For those who are unable to attend in person, virtual webinar meetings will take place on Thursday, Jan. 30, and Tuesday, Feb. 4, both from 6 to 7 p.m. To join one of these meetings, visit bit.ly/i270webinar. The same information will be shared and community members will be able to provide input at all four meetings.

The project is in the study phase, as part of the National Environmental Policy Act process, and will continue through spring 2026 with design efforts occurring simultaneously. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin later in 2026. For more information, visit codot.gov/projects/studies/i270study.
