Outside storage of items such as construction material, tires, machinery, indoor furniture, fixtures, and appliances (even if covered) is not allowed. These items should be kept in a garage or storage shed.

To help with the disposal of these prohibited items, the city offers a trash and recycling program for residents including events for free or very low cost. Under the city's trash and recycling program, residents can take advantage of FOUR free days per year at the Republic Services Tower Landfill to dispose of large quantities of trash or large/oddly-shaped items without using your large-item pickups from Republic Services. No hazardous waste allowed.

Saturday, April 5 • 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Saturday, June 14 • 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 9 • 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 25 • 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Rules:

Residents must show proof of residency (Colorado ID)
One load only (per household)
All loads must be covered with a tarp if not contained within vehicle
Mattresses and box springs are subject to the current gate rate fee
No charge for cars, vans or SUVs; the first 5 yards for pickup trucks and trailers are also no charge; however, anything that exceeds the 5-yard maximum will be subject to a current gate rate charge plus applicable fee
Appliances are accepted free of charge on free landfill days only and will be recycled (appliances with refrigerants are not accepted)

Sec. 6-2008. - Outdoor storage of materials

(a) Outdoor storage prohibited. It shall be unlawful for the owner or occupant of any residential property to store or keep outdoors on such property, or permit the outdoor storage or keeping on such property, any materials not customarily stored outdoors in residential neighborhoods, regardless of whether or not the materials are sheltered, covered, placed upon a trailer, or placed within a carport or other partially enclosed structure. Materials inappropriate for outdoor storage or keeping on residential property shall include, for purposes of illustration but not limitation, any construction material, tires, machinery, furniture not manufactured for outdoor use, fixtures, and appliances.

(b) Exceptions. The prohibitions contained in this section shall not apply to:

(1) Materials stored or kept within a completely enclosed building; or

(2) Construction materials used in the construction of a structure for which a building permit has been issued by the city; provided that such materials may not be stored for more than six (6) months, unless an extension of such time has been approved by the city manager.
