UPDATE: Three-year-old Gunshot Victim

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the death of the three-year-old child may have been the result of the mishandling of a loaded firearm.  The three-year-old child was in the residence with his two brothers, ages 12 and 13, with no adults present at the time.  The investigation remains on-going.

The Commerce City Police Department urges adults to keep weapons in a secure and safe place.  No additional information is available at this time.

COMMERCE CITY, COLO. (July 16, 2020) - At approximately 3:03 p.m., Commerce City Police responded to 7800 block Jasmine Drive on a report of a gunshot. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased three-year-old male child suffering from a gunshot wound.  There were two other children in the residences at the time of the incident, and both appear to be unharmed.  

This investigation is ongoing and is being handled by the Commerce City Police Department Investigations Unit. No additional information is available at this time.
